I rest my case on this town. We had nothing but issues too living in Keene with the college kids and free staters. My GF works for one of the people deployed and said Keene is about to be listed as a disaster zone, state EOC is activated at level 3 and now fires reported on campus. I wonder if they'll even have the fest next year. Guess they did need that armored vehicle from the Pentagon lol. The first video my husband commented it looked like the riots of 07 when the Sox won, said it took all night to get the campus under control.

Riot Police Deploy tear gas and pepper spray.

I had the pleasure of being in Paris this summer, man you should see the riots I saw this summer (not my video, but they had several like this). Fortunately, I doubt this will happen in Keene.

I heard it was a mix of college kids and free staters but I'm not certain. I know one was air lifted with severe burns all over his body from a firework. My thing is they really did this and ruined it for families who came out to see the festival. Downtown is compact and the college is right off Main Street so no doubt children could have easily been harmed with flying things and fire works.. its such a shame

It's why Keene needs an armored car. and had snipers on the rooftops at last year's pumpkinfest. .http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/.../sniper-teams-guard.../

The goal of Homeland Security is to shut this event down.

I am very saddened to see that people would act this way and ruin a family event and tradition for the community.

All the news coverage I've seen pins this on college students, and makes no mention of the Free Staters. Sweetbottoms, got a credible source that ties any of this to the FSP?

As far as I can see, this is just a bunch of drunk, irresponsible, idiot college students with no respect for anyone else trashing other people's property. Dave, what's the Shaheen-Hassan conspiracy here?

Glad I don't live anywhere near there.

College parties will always happen, have always happened. It's only since 911 that police dress in riot patrol gear and invade the parties w/tear gas.

Some of the students interviewed claim that it's not all college students in the crowd. There are a lot of townies, total strangers as well as kids from other colleges involved.

The media controls the emotions of the viewers. The wording, the pictures, the interviews...all give a clear picture of what is happening....not. But, it will decide how you are going to view the 'chaos' and 'out of control' drunken STUDENTS at the obsolete pumpkinfest. It's funded by various businesses for publicity.

I get a kick out of one of the ads for festival. "Send us your pictures and we'll turn them into a full-color book that you can delight in for years to come." This year's book should be really special.
