Hello all. I am in a situation where I might have to move out of state with my husband for his job. I am divorced and have a son with my ex who lives nearby but not in the same town where my son goes to school. My question is - what are the guidelines and/or where can I find documentation to keep my son in the same school instead of having to uproot him from school towards the end of the year. I don't want to do this and am willing to let my ex have him until the summer if that means I can keep my son in the same school. He is very sensitive and I think moving him out of the class he loves will end up being detrimental. Any advice on this subject would be greatly apprecaited. TIA.

This would be handled on a town-by-town (or district) basis. However, most school districts will want a physical mailing address (where the child *should* be living) within that town, so keep that in mind if he stays with your ex. You "may" be able to get by with having a PO Box within the town, but a physical mailing address is best. Good luck
