When you rent a car at Logan airport you either pay a lot extra (more then the tolls would cost) for toll pass from the rental car company (because MA tolls you can't pay cash). Or you figure out how to avoid the MA no cash toll roads. Is their a favored route heading north to Portsmouth area from Logan to avoid MA no cash tolls?

Google maps will send you:

1A North to Rt. 60 W to Rt 1 N to Rt 95 N to Rt 107 N to Rt 1 N.

Or bring your own EZ Pass

The last four times I drove to Airport, the toll right outside the airport was down and not taking money.

Does Google Maps have a feature to map routes without tolls? I don't mind the NH tolls because they are cheap and cash. But MA you have to have to buy the rental car companies pass which they charge a lot more for then the toll actually is. And if you go though a toll and do not have a pass, the rental company bills you, and adds a big fat surcharge of their own. I got killed in FL renting a car a few years ago with the photo tolls when I didn't get the rental companies overpriced pass!

I think some of the Mass Tolls have gone to Licence Plate Picture/photo Readers for Non/EzPass cars.

Not sure what happens when you have a your EzPass and a Car Plate Not registered to your Pass.

I've heard horror stories about charges going to people who put there rental car plate on there EzPass account for one trip getting hit for tolls days and weeks/months after they took it off there EzPass account.

Also If the Car Rental car Company register there Plates to there EzPass, and the EzPass software does not allow the plate to be on more then one (the Car Rental's company) account at a time.

C1 out of Logan through Revere. No bridge. No tunnel. No tolls. To 95 or Route 1 all the way to Portsmouth.

The booths are down but the toll gantry is up. If you had an EZ Pass, it was deducted. If you didn't, you'll get a bill in the mail with a surcharge.

The easiest way to Portsmouth will have you on local roads thru Revere, Saugus, etc: 1A N, 60W, Rte 1 N to 95 N

You'll still have a tollbooth at the Hampton. Toll Plaza but there are cash lanes that will be open

How long ago was that, Levi? My last time going to Logan, I came in by way of Rte 95/1/60, etc but went home by 93 and noticed that the booth was closed. And got a bill in the mail about a month later....
