What's the deal with everyone in NH getting vanity plates?? Is it cheap? Free? I can't pay attention to the road when I'm driving because I'm too busy trying to read all the plates coming at me.

I saw a news report and NH is second in the percentage of residents with vanity plates-behind Virginia who is number one. When I moved here I could not get over the number of vanity plates that I saw on the road. I am not sure of the price but have heard it is less expensive than vanity plates in other states.

I had one for years - it was initially $25. more than a regular plate and then it was the same price as everyone else to keep it. When I gave it up, I had to pay a small fee as well.

I like the vanity plates but I'd rather remain anonymous!

The best vanity plate I've seen is PB4UGO. It was either a NH or Maine plate.

I liked 'topless' for a convertible.

I thought the large number of vanity plates in NH was because of that good ol' Yankee independence. Why let the government assign you a number when you can make your own statement?

That's my view anyway. And I already know what my plate will say! I see it as quite a challenge to make a political statement in 7 letters or less.

a friend had "ILVSX" for a plate and had to go before the state for a hearing to keep it. Someone had complained that it was too suggestive. He stated that his girlfriend's name was Suzie Xerox and he was allowed to keep the plate. Too funny!
