I received a letter via snail mail stating that on a certain date range (weekend) I went through a toll in speed over 35mph.

The letter did not state where, time, details, nothing only a range of dates, which if their date's are correct, I was not on the road at all during their specified dates, long weekend of hanging out at the house for a change.

The number of infractions it continued to list was "000001".

My question(s) would be:

How can they track your speed with the ezpass?

Is it just the NH troopers, leo's able to issue tickets regarding this?

Since I was not driving, and nobody else was that had my car/transponder etc, how can they say that I was speeding, and further more where is their proof since it is extremely vague in their letter?

Has anyone else come across this, and could you share your experience?

Thanks!

I do plan on giving them a call, however, I'll hold my breath, because I highly doubt anything will come out of it, it's like a credit card company, they have all the keys and you have none.

Anyone else from NH have this happen to them?

The notice is a warning. They don't issue a summons through the mail. If it happens to often, they will revoke the transponder.

My husband got one yesterday in the mail. We're used to the "toll tag lanes" in Dallas where people use the last four lanes in excess of 60mph through the tolls. That's what it is designed to do. DH was pretty pissed at how slow we have to go through tolls up here, he's always crabbing at people.

Now he knows why, because they can take your toll tag away if you're flying too fast though them.

DH starts taking the back roads Monday, and he said he'll only use the toll highways for bad winter weather commuting (basically the only time he doesn't speed) LOL

No worries, if you get more of them definitely call or request a photo and proof of your Mph.

We should quit bellyaching about the tollbooth owner telling you to slow down for safety.

In UK and elsewhere in Europe they first had speed cameras, and now average speed systems. The cameras tag your car into a computer system which extracts your plate number. If the time you took to be tagged between two or more cameras means your average speed was greater than any of the limits on those roads, you get a ticket in the mail automatically. These things are a reality - and WE complain about cops with radars!

I was recently discussing this very scenario about these "EZPass" devices on another forum . Looks like its not just possible, but a reality.

Not to go and get all but these things can track your vehicle anywhere there's a "reader device" and the effective range of these things is a lot better then the .gov would have you believe.

Creepy. (Only the sheeple would say : If you have nothing to hide... )

The capabilities of the EZPass transponder has been internet lore for years. As one who had been involved in some of the installations of the earlier systems, they don't "track" anyone.

If you want to sit in line and pay cash, that is your decision. I'd rather fly through the toll booths. Anyone who drives through at 35 mph deserves a warning.
