If you're talking about the SE US, I agree, and I do live here. In addition to lousy weather, termites, fireants, etc. we also have massive mosquitoes, snakes everywhere, hurricane worries, and much much more! I don't know where you can get a decent house for 80K and even though we don't have to heat our homes, we have to cool them pretty much 12 months of the year. I think I opened my windows twice this year. And our property taxes are way more than $300 a year. They are a bit less than NH, but NH is SO worth it. At least there you can get out and explore without looking like a leper because you are covered in mosquito bites and can't stop sweating (not to mention West Nile virus risk). I will gladly pay higher property taxes!!! I can't imagine anyone even complaining about it, but then again, for some people, LA is paradise... Go figure!

Your vehicle can last forever there as long as you don't the cracked dashboard from the sun baking! I figure I'd never fit in since I'm not one of the people with a zipper on my bible!

Hmm. Avoid areas near rivers and marshes during the summer when the mosquitos and black flies are out It is not too fun.
