I hope you are geting an idea of what the 87% on the normal cost of living means when compared with the 115%. We are in the 115 range.

If you are so concerned with crime why not look for a more secure location in New Mexico?

A lot of reasons, really - it isn't just the crime rate here (though it is a big factor). I'm originally from MA and have wanted to come back to NE since I moved away in 1985, healthcare here sucks, the job market isn't all that great, pay is low...NM is one of the poorest states in the nation, one of the highest DWI rates....enough reason?

Plus there's so much to miss about NE....the ocean, autumn leaves...I wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb there (I'm 5'8", VERY white, strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes), the food....people are just different here. It drives me absolutely bonkers that they have ZERO personal space and will stand literally INCHES behind you in line, or get up in your face to talk to you.
