Look. Heres the deal, i just came onto this forum with some questions. I am not taking any of the information here as a deal maker or breaker alright? I just wanted some insight. If i was out to change a red state into a liberal state then why would i move out of texas in the first place. I don't need any advice on how to act once i get to NH. I will figure that out. I do not hope to change anything politically in the state, i am not that proactive. I do appreciate that NH now allows civil unions, for me that is great because that means my partner and i can share health insurance instead of having to pay double among very many other benefits often taken for granted. And I wasn't aware that by stating that i was a lesbian that was sharing my sexual desires to everyone. It is simply a label that i must use at some times to describe my situation. I hope you see my point. It is not something that i refer myself as in most cases. But in this case, while trying to find a place unlike texas that doesn't care who i am, i felt that it would not offend anyone for me to say so. I'm sorry if it has. I was simply looking for information, not a lecture. So thank you for all of the feedback.

I think you have seen the good and the bad and even the ugly.....but I am sure you will do just fine. Sometimes you just know that they don't have a clue and don't even know it.

I wish you the best of luck; congratulations on your maturity and your commitment to one another. With that going for you.....the misinformed comments directed at you ..... really dont matter very much. They really dont understand or have a clue about what your asking or looking for. NH is so much better than what you experienced here. Good Luck.

Do you have more specific criteria to help narrow down your options? Every town is different. I grew up in Keene, but the job market is tight and property taxes are high. I lived on the seacoast for many years, and loved it. But each town over their is slightly different and unique. Anymore help or questions, and we can better inform you.

Oh hey, come live in Chesterfield or West Chesterfield, between Brattleboro and Keene I, for one have never cared about a person's orientation, just their personality.

Plus a blue Governor, 2 Blue US Reps, 3 Blue of 5 executive council seats,
and blue majority of 73 in the state house of representives:

Just responding to a misleading post in this thread.... A SWING state - yes. A Red State... no.

Hmm criteria.. okay well we are a young couple who will be raising a family. So a good school system would be preferable, I will be working in the Technology industry, specifically in Information Systems security and my partner will be working as an elementary school teacher. Um, we kind of wanted somewhere within probably an hour or so of a larger city so that I could commute, reasonable (200-300 or less) real estate. We were kind of looking for a semi small town with close conveniences but not really in the city.. I am not sure if any of that makes any sense lol..

Hi Nicandblair! I'm new to the NH forums and I was looking at your posts because I'm looking at Keene. I am also from TX - the Dallas area. I just wanted to send my support to both of you and say hang in there! I know you'll find what you are looking for and don't give any mind to those who have misinterpreted you - I think you were very clear in your request for info and I'm not sure how things got so sidetracked. Best Wishes with your move - whatever you decide!!

my best advice to you is that you are very young, , you're still in school, you don't even have kids which is not a easy thing to do, I mean by that not because you can't have kids unless you get a man or go abroad and buy a child instead but because you were just having problems a couple of months ago and to raise kids is full time.
moving away from problems always catches up with you.
It is not easy at all

why not get older, finish school and then decide

everything you say you want like socialised medical health and all the other live free things then why not san francisco.
It has everything you need

you are not interested in changing anything in NH and yet your blog entires and other posts on the internet are very different to what you are saying here and how NH is.

And that means? Most NH natives don't like transplants telling others interested in moving to the state how best to conform to "New Hampshire" values! Really, it's too funny, between relatives and friends--a lot of people--all NH natives, I've never heard such sentiments , as well as those espoused by Proud American--only on this board (mostly transplants), and others who've moved to the state. Maybe you should have stayed in your own states and worked to make things more to your liking instead of telling folks what they need to do to "fit in" to NH . Good people are good people, period. The NH natives I know welcome more diversity and open minded folks--not transplants hoping to keep the state tethered to the Loeb-loving past.
