I'm a lifelong NH resident and I'm proudly Democratic. I own guns and I believe in Freedom of Religion as well as Freedom of Speech.

I was told in another forum that Freedom of Religion is strictly a far left ideal.

GO OBAMA!!!

Having said that, from a red family trapped in a deep sea of Blue (California). Obama supporters be careful what you wish for....you just might get it.

California, like MA, has long been a blue state and run by tax and spend liberals. This is the home base of Nancy Pelosi after all. California is now billions and billions in the red and is now also asking the feds for a bail out....this is to get us through just one budget year. Nice.

I am no fan of Bush and I do believe this country needs change; however, this change should be moderated and not an extreme leap to the left. A left wing white house, senate and house followed around by a left wing media is a very scary scenario for me. No balance at all.

Not only do I work in public asfety but I also own and run a small business. I am a member of several local and regional Chambers of Commerce and I can assure you, many many people are going to be losing their jobs under Obama's tax plans. I know not one single business owner that has any expansion plans at all and are actually preparing for layoffs and a contractionary business cycle under Obama.

Another note for those that like the Obama speeches and rhetoric about taxing the rich, Joe the plumber, spread the wealth etc. Although capital gains is going up on small and large business alike,(already the highest in the world at 31%) not ONE of us plan on just paying Obamas new tax.

YOU WILL pay this tax as we raise prices for goods and services you try to get and then also cut back on business spending, investment and hiring. In the end you are paying for Obamas "Tax Cut" not the businesses. This is yet another hidden tax on the very people he is trying to sell his message to.

If your still undecided, just do a little research (on everyone) and vote for the totality of your educational process, beliefs and personnal issues.

No matter what happens....peace to all.

Just a little reminder... we've had a Republican President and The Dems. have had control over the House and Senate for the last 4 years, and close to 8 years. A clashing of the parties at the top. It is very hard to blame everything that has happened on the Republicans because it has been both parties in control.... and in order for anything to pass, it has to go through the Senate and House. If you want to look at it that way... both parties are to blame.

When it comes time to vote..remember what you stand for and what ideals you want for our country. That's all for now...going to get me some fresh vension now! Anyone want to join me?

My point was not exclusive to those who are any closer to the mark than you, and probably inclusive of those much further from the mark than may have been imagined. There is a route in America to self sufficiency and even major success not attainable in many other countries which is well worth every step. I do not think that consideration of a real or imagined controversy, or fairness-gauging comparisons are helpful at all in an independent road to success.

I certainly do not believe in unnecessary taxation but I also do not think letting highway bridges rust to ruin with huge replacement costs is cheaper than painting every few years. I do not believe refusing to fund traffic congestion relief in the tourist towns attracts more tourists. I do not believe refusing to fund a traffic light on Rt 102 in Londonderry is cheaper than have a friend killed by traffic. I am frugal but the Republicans in this state have been foolish.

But mostly I do not believe that children unlucky enough to be born in a nearly dead north or valley country town should have to have their futures threatened because they have a woefully underfunded school system instead of monument to excess spending that is the Londonderry High School. All the children of the state, and for that matter the country, deserve the same access to education as the luck kids of the prosperous towns or states.

I have only been in Londonderry for 26 years (not counting the five years or so I lived north of the notch) so I guess that makes me a flatland foreigner. As I have pointed out several times I am a fiscally prudent Liberal and believe strongly that a government that strongly regulates finance to prevent fraud and monopoly provides a system that maximized individual freedom.

I do not believe the government should require either wearing motorcycle helmets while riding or seatbelts while driving. I do not believe in “nanny” laws. I also do not believe the forestry department should spend the money to rescue fools caught in the winter wilderness even if a friend of mine froze to death last year in Franconia Notch. I believe if fools want to take risks they are welcome to do so as long as they do not put children at risk while they are playing. I do not believe it is appropriate for the state Fish & Game to spend their restricted fees on Search and Rescue. If we decide that S&R is needed then it should be supported with “rescue fees” or some other revenue.

I firmly believe that government should stay out of my religion and my gun safe. Neither is any of their business. I will pray, or not, as I see fit. I will own and carry what ever weapon I feel necessary for the task at hand weather it is self defense in my home or hunting moose or bear. I support hunters’ rights to hunt wherever the game is available because I believe, as did our earliest settlers, that the game belongs to everyone (socialism) and not to the landowners.

I could go on, as I have elsewhere, but I think I have made my point. I think that we will get better more efficient government if we elect Democrats than if we continue to elect thoughtless Republicans.
Mind bogglingly fantabulous post Greg.

Point of fact, the Dems only got control of the US Senate in 2006.

Certainly both have culpability. But the Prez also has a veto and the dems only currently have a technical majority (1 seat is libertarian) not a veto-proof 2/3 majority. This basically means that no significant democrat-only legislation was possible in the last 8-12 years.

thank you - you beat me to it. The president constantly vetoes any plans put forth by the democrats...

hopefully with a Democrat president in office again, we can go back to a decent economy. Just ending an unnecessary war will save billions of dollars for the taxpayers. Billions of dollars that would have been better spent on the country's infrastructure and health programs.

While no one wants higher taxes, there are actually other issues that affect the USA. I care very much about our standing and reputation in the world. I care about the environment and education. Obama seems to understand these issues so he is who I will be voting for.

what's scary to me is McCain takes Ambien daily...and has been taking it for years.

he claims he doesn't take drugs, but Ambien is a drug.
