Hello all you beautiful New Hampshire citizens,

I have a dilemma and am wondering if you would give me your opinion? I live on Cape Cod. There are many positive aspects of living here, but one negative aspect that has led me to this forum and to you all. My husband and I are conservative/libertarian minded and politically, we are in the exteme minority here.

As you know, we have a crazy Governor and legislature that seems hell bent on taxing its citizens to death. Well, the last straw for me came last week when I learned we would have a sin tax on candy, alchol, and soda to pay for his new obesity initiative save us from ourselves. It just goes on and on and I realize we need to leave.

So here is my dilemma - I have heard people call in from New Hampshire to talk radio shows saying that your state is changing politically. I've heard and read that the M*******s are crossing the border and voting liberal. And after all you guys did vote for Barack Obama the most liberal senator in the country. Is New Hampshire turning into a Massachusetts? Because if it is, I will just stay here. What do you all think? Do you have any opinions one way or another?

I so need to escape this nanny state. I want freedom!! I want small government and fiscal conservatism!! Can I find it in New Hampshire? Please advise. Thanks so much -

Lisa

JMHO but NH has not changed as much as it seems. There were close to 300 Republican state reps out of 400, 18 state senators out of 26, and a Republican governor 4 years ago. President Bush & his nation-building madness and fiscal foolishess killed the Republican brand....for now. NH will go red in 10 in the house & governor's position. Come on up

Hi LisaB You must be listening to Michael Graham and Jay Severin. Please come to NH before the next election! After all, Mass is a lost cause, but there is still hope, however faint, here in New Hampshire

Is this a troll post? I mean seriously? If you don't like what's going on in Cape Cod then don't read the papers...I don't like half the things that are going on this this country, but heck, what can I do about it?

Ignore him. He's just another socialist with his head burried in the sand waiting for the .gov to come around with another wave of failed social programs that cost billions.

MA is a sinking ship. I made the move from MA to NH two years ago and I couldn't be happier. I have had at least 12 other libertarian/conservatives also make the move from MA to NH in the last two years.

The tax paying conservatives are moving out, the state will implode under it's huge government. Yesterday they announced they are going after business in NH to claim MA sales tax on their subjects... MA is out of control in spending and almost every politician is corrupt. The last three speakers of the house have all been shown the door because of their corruption.

NH needs more people like you and your husband.

That sales tax issue is the last straw. But I guess if I didn't read newspapers, I wouldn't even know this.

Are you serious?? If you don't like what's going on, don't read about it? Just ignore it and hope that things get better someday? Oh yeah, thats gonna happen...

Massachusetts has some SERIOUS money problems right now (gee, I wonder why...) to the point that they are going after a business in NH to get "their" tax dollars. Next thing you know they'll be staking out the NH state liquor stores the same way they do the fireworks stores in July... You see, it is OK to "make mistakes" and "forget" to pay your taxes (until of course you are chosen for the "Hope & Change" administration... but do not even THINK about illegally crossing a state border and buying TIRES for your car without paying taxes to the tax-starved state of Massachusetts... Oh, and the next piece of legislation coming at "We The Sheeple of Massachusetts"..... make darn sure you have the government approved "sledding helmets" if you want to slide down a snowy hill in that state. After all, we NH people do all sorts of dangerous things, like CHOSE whether or not to wear a seat belt and even carry a (gasp) firearm, again, if we so CHOSE.

You ask what you can do about it? You can VOTE, you can get MAD and you can MOVE once you've had enough.

Dukakis tried having staties sit in the parking lots of the liquor stores and writing down the plate numbers until Meldrim Thomson threatened to have them arrested.
