We've decided to embrace the ticks (see other post), prepare for Lyme disease, and leave the dreaded state of NY behind in favor of the Live Free or Die state. Thanks to everyone who responded to my earlier post about Lyme disease. My next question is about schools: Our recently turned 5 year old starts kindergarten this fall. He's been reading for a couple of years now, and I'm interested in hearing from parents (or teachers) in the Lakes Region if one district or the other is better in terms of academic programs. It's too early to tell if he'll be a good student of course, but I have high hopes! According to Schooldigger, Inter-Lakes is better rated, but only by seven points or so, and there's more to education than just test scores of course. We've been leaning toward Sandwich because its elementary school is 11th in the state and we like the area, but I've been reading some interesting things about Moultonborough too, and the taxes are even lower there. Anybody out there with students in those districts? ...

Just saw this post. I'm curious where you decided to move for the school. I moved with my 5 year old in 1996 to Moultonboro and couldn't be happier.

Anecdotally speaking, I've heard more parents rave about Moultonborough's schools. They seem really strong. However, Inter-Lakes still has a good reputation in the region, especially when compared to nearby districts like Laconia and Newfound.
