There are lots of professional people down here of that nationality who probablly dont think eight thousand dollars is a whole lotta money. Doesent everyone have a nest egg like that stashed away somewhere.

Reading the original story it sounds to me like perhaps the backpack was in the home during the fire and got lost; pretty plausible actually. Glad to see the kid/his family gave it back.
