Guys, guys, guys... Let's not bring actual facts in to the mix. If those liberals are fine with taxes don't prove the point that the quality of life is higher and the tax burden is lower in NH. Let them stay in their high crime, high tax, poor school performing, big government utopia.

That 75 year old widow is doing pretty good if the house is debt free. Property taxes are part of home ownership, just like the utilities, home repairs, maintenance, etc. If you can't afford the house you live in, you have to move. It is that simple...

You have to take into consideration the -actual effect- of the increase. Let's make wild assumption and presume that the average person has 1,000 dollars of discretionary income that isn't spent on food. This 1,000 dollars is solely spent on merchandise, televisions, eletronical equipments, lavish clothing above a sum of 175 dollars, jewelery, whatever it is that people buy. The total increase that he would have to pay, the total increase that has created a "stimulus plan" is 12 dollars. an extra 12 dollars a month per 1,000 dollars of disretionary income.
So as you can see the increase in taxes is paltry and only has an impact on the rich. However I don't think it will occur to anyone who has suddenly decided to stop buying crap from mass and buy it from new hampshire because of the HUGE increase to actually do the math. tisk tisk, well congratulations new hampshire has 1/10th the economy of our state and we're also the 7th richest per capita, twice that of NH. So you're poor citizens could use some help!! You're welcome!

Also New Hampshire has among the lowest education scores in the country. It also has a perfectly average post-secondary system with the exception of dartmouth. So I would hope for the future of your children, your state and your propsperity that you would want to increase education funding or otherwise find a solution to increase your pathetic standing in education.
And there is a direct correlation between funding and sucesss at least in education; mass has among the highest funding per student and thus among the smartest students. All according to the department of education via Statemaster.

high crime, high tax, poor school performing, big government utopia. hahahaha all those liberals are moving to new hampshire, new hampshire is the fastest growing state in new england is mostly due to mass residents who are moving to your state. So eventually the indigenious population of New Hampshire will be outstripped by all your new residents from mass and the rest of new england. Who are uniformly liberal(nh is the only red state) and what will happen, as they reach a majority or important minority your government will inact new taxes and become bigger. hahahahaha

So it is only $12.50 per $1000 that gets spent. Why stop at 6.25% Why not jack it up to 9% then? You buy a new $18,000 car and will now pay $1,125 in sales tax instead of $900. Oh, and those of us in NH pay zero.

NH is much smaller than MA. That is true. But NH is ranked higher as a place to live and is healthier. I guess life there must be great, but why are so many people leaving?

"According to US Census Bureau estimates, Massachusetts is the only state in the nation to lose population for two years in a row (from 2003 to 2005).

In every year since 1990, Massachusetts has lost more residents to other states than it has gained."

Demographic Change

Dartmouth? What does a private college have to do with the state? You'd have to compare UNH to UMass as they are public schools.

The real question is how the states are at the K - 12 levels. Most of my friends in MA send their kids to private schools from 7th or 9th grade onward.

SAT scores for the 2006 - 2007 school year:
MA: Reading 513, Math 524, Writing 510
NH: Reading 520, Math 524, Writing 509

SAT score averages of college-bound seniors and percent of graduates taking SAT, by state or jurisdiction: Selected years, 1987–88 through 2005–06

Many people have escaped from MA over the past 10 years. Those that are net-takers from society tend to stay in MA where the nanny state will take care of their every need. Those that are sick and tired of a corrupt single party state government aren't about to move to NH and then turn it into what they left... Most of the people leaving MA for NH are conservatives, not liberals...

Grow up......what are you 12 years old ! And stop making up stats. It's fine to voice an opinion, but going thread to thread using stats that you can't back up is like spam IMO.

Wow look at the MA moonbat in here defending tax increases and spewing false information. They are so predictable.

Get a grip Mason, there is a huge exodus of conservatives moving to NH from MA. MA is a sinkhole that is going to bankrupt itself. Mark my words, MA will be bankrupt in 10 years.

So until then keep telling yourself how great MA is, I don't know who you're trying to convince us or you. We already know how much MA sucks.
