Hi all,

My boyfriend's family lives in New Hampshire (Lakes region) and we will be visiting again this summer in early August. Last summer we visited Clark's Trading Post and went deep sea fishing at the seacoast, but I was wondering what other fun suggestions anyone had for daytrips and the like. I'm open to suggestions to anywhere in New Hampshire and other places that may be within driving distance from the Lakes region (Mass., Vermont, etc.). I know we're planning to visit Salem, Mass., (also any suggestions on what to do there would be helpful) but other than that we're just looking for some things to do besides relax and spend time with family and friends. I've been looking at different places, but I'd love to hear from some locals! So any suggestions?

Oh, and if it helps, we're pretty much open to doing anything! We're not active hikers or anything, so maybe not anything too strenuous :P

Hey Ready;

If you can get to Clarks coming up 93, come across the Kankamangus pass, enjoy the views, and come see the Mt. Washington Valley. Albany, Madison, Conway and all the surrounding towns are beautiful. Take the Cog Railway to the top of Mt. Wash. Visit the natural wonders like Diana's bath, Cathederal Ledge and Pinkham Notch. Go tubing or kayaking in the Saco.

Once you come across the Kank, Rt. 16 is the big corridor that will take you to the attractions, and also take you back to the lake's region Make a left at the end of the Kank and it'll take you thru Conway and quaint shops, railroads and ski resorts. Make a right, and head towards Silver lake or Lake Ossippee, both are beautiful....a big round trip...

Good luck and have fun.

2 fun and easy hikes are Mt. Monadnock and Mt. Major. Both have amazing views for relatively little effort (compared to hiking in the Whites...you are still hiking).

Other than that I would second everything said above.

Maybe a cruise on the Mount Washington (boat)...
