What are you looking for? Family friendly activities, best party, best bar, renting a ski house, B&B in the mountains, in a big group, by yourself, etc. etc. etc.?

Too open of a question to really answer......

My husband and I are up for suggestions. We've done a little research and we don't want to pay a $100 cover charge, but other than that we're flexible. We enjoy a drink, but it is not a must. We'll be exploring NH so we can be anywhere. Fireworks would be great.

Many of the cities like Portsmouth and probably Manchester or Nashua have a "First Night" event. Are you looking for something like that or a "club atmosphere"?

Very ambiguous question - can you give more specifics. Where are you staying? How far do you want to travel at most? Are you native to this area insomuch that have you ever done winter driving should it be a snowy type night?

only three towns have fireworks that I know of. Wolfeboro and Portsmouth

concord used to have them, but stopped a few years ago.

also, quite a few ski areas have fireworks planned.

We were hoping for something different than what we would do down here in the south. Usually our only option here is to go out to a bar. We aren't really sure where we will be on New Years Eve. We know we are visiting the mountains area, lakes region and the coast. We just haven't decided where we will end up. Depending on the weather we will probably end our trip on the coast (new years day). We have driven in snow but prefer not to New Years Eve in case we do decide to drink.

Where are the fireworks in Portsmouth? Know of anything else happening that evening? The reason we are asking is that last year we spent new year eve in Ipswich, MA and the pub we were hanging out at closed at 7 p.m. so that the folks could spend time with their families (which we thought was really nice). Being so far away from home and not really wanting to take a train to Boston we just spent our new years eve hanging out outside and watching it snow. Another reason we are asking is that if there was some neat festival or event happening in the white mountains area for example we could change our starting point for the trip. We are just gonna kind of go with the flow and not really making definite plans for this trip in case the weather prevents us. Thank y'all!

I vote for First Night in Portsmouth! You can have the bar scene or the street scene with First Night - take your pick and you can walk to it all. And fireworks to boot. I miss Portsmouth
