It's going to be cold outside, but a few things that are going on this weekend:

The Carriage Barn in Newton is having a Winter Festival on Sunday, 1/31. This is a free event, there will be gingerbread decorating, barn tours, pony rides, food, raffles, and "weather permitting" sleigh rides too!
Carriage Barn Equestrian Center

Has anyone noticed the bright full moon these past few nights? It's like being outside at dawn or dusk when I take the dog outside for a final walk of the night. This sounds like fun:

Has anybody tried or watched ski joring? I used to ski-jor with my dogs, but this event is with horses! Equestrian Ski Joring, who knew there was such a thing??
North East Ski Joring Association

ANyone else have an event to share??

Take a good book, good music, comfortable chair, good companion, warm room and mix well in front of as fireplace and watch the cold through an insulated window.

That moon makes me want to go winter camping..and I just might.

I could go on about that, but with no digital pics no one would believe a word i said.
I have 35mm slides, and for a long time searched for a cost effective way to get them on CD.

For what I do and where I go you need a SLR that needs no battery to run the camera. I run 70's vintage minoltas for this with a battery for the light meter and it dies out there too. I guess the light, and it works 50%, can't beat that...

I am looking forward to sugarin' season and hoping it is better than the last 2.

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I just stayed indoors. But I *did* keep my shades up so I could see the beautiful moon from inside the house. I'm a wimp.

I didn't do any of those fun things that I posted about, but I DID spend much of Saturday night outside! If anyone lives in Auburn and saw 20' tall bonfire and an hour +/- fireworks display, that was us! We did go for a little tiny moonlight hike, but was much better to stay near the fire. My little nephew has the very best January birthday parties The moon WAS incredible both Friday and Saturday night!
