Please help my husband and I have to attend a graduation in Elizabth, NJ next week in the early evening. We are flying from Detroit but to fly into Newark is double but to fly into Philadelphia or Laguardia New york is much less.
We are also nervous about safety having out of state plates and being in Elizabeth. Please any advice would help greatly!

I'm originally from Michigan. I lived in South Jersey for over 40 years before moving to NC. I can see no earthly reason why Michigan plates on your car would be a concern. Is that why you aren't driving? That was unclear. If you rent a car, if you fly, it's the roll of the dice as to what state's plate you could end up with.
I go to school in North Jersey near Elizabeth, and I doubt that you'll have any problem with having out of state plates.
Just for the record, Elizabeth is by no means in the Philadelphia Metro.
