What towns might be good? I am a single mom, 2 kids ages 6 & 9 so schools are important.

I wouldn't be buying at first, just renting. I am not familiar with that area of New Jersey, but I'd like easy access into NYC so not too far away from that (a train, park & ride, etc.)

My budget would be a bit tight so no more than $1,600 a month, less would be better of course.

Any and all suggestion of where to look would be helpful. In the spring when the weather warms up I plan to take a trip up there and poke around.

You may have better luck with this on the main NJ forum. But I can tell you looking for a town with good schools and an easy commute to the city on a tight budget is probably not going to work.

I think you an find a condo in Cherry Hill or Mt Laurel in your budget. That would put you about 15 min from the bus station.
