We tried it a couple times and walked away feeling as though we were let down by the menu and the quality of the food. Also, they now nickel-and-dime you with extra charges for the good stuff. Example: I always liked their Rib-Eye steak, then they put that with extra charge and put in the hanger steak on the price-fix menu. That cut absolutely sucks. The lobster bisque used to phenomenal, now it tastes like they pulled it out of a can. YMMV, but I would try another steak place if that is the cuisine you are after.
I can't comment on the quality going up or down as I am new to the area. All I can say was we really liked the food. We thought the menu was pretty large for something like restaurant week (we have seen much smaller menus at other places). I have no problem if they want to increase the offering by having items they charge more for. I thought it was pretty good that they were also offering 50% off every bottle of wine they had.

We actually just made a reservation for Sunday for the prix fix menu. Now maybe if I hadn't already been there and tasted some of the items they have on that menu I would be disappointed with the selection, but I'm pretty sure I already know what I am getting. Crab cakes, lobster bisque and creme brulee.

Had another very good meal tonight at The Chophouse. That's 2 for 2 and makes it a keeper in my books.

Default Blackbird

We tried the new Blackbird location on Haddon this weekend. Done and will never go again. For two of us it was $105 (remember, BYOB) and we both left hungry. The soup "bowl" of roasted corn chowder could have fit in a saucer; I was done in 4 tablespoons. The gnocchi was very good but splitting it for $22 as an appetizer was a literal crime. My companion had lamb chops that were small and fatty. The salmon, was decent and done well but the capper was the $9 dessert of a half size "kandy kake" piece of dry chocolate cake with a little girls playset cup of drizzeled chocolate goo.
I know I often left in a mediocre mood in the other location so this was their last chance at redemption. Failed miserably.
