Hobby Lobby is owned by a religious nut who carries lots of items geared to evangelicals. It's closed on Sundays. Sunday is very busy in craft stores near Cherry Hill. Swedesboro is a far better location for Hobby Lobby, given that there would be little to no competition & the owner's got a religiously simpatico audience who would be delighted to shop there & would not be bothered at all with a Sunday closure.

You know, I thought of the Brace Rd. store when I read this quote:

"To say it bluntly, we don't fail. We know how to run a store," said Jason Ravitz.

It looks like this Flaum Managment Company owns the property: http://www.flaummgt.com/portfolio/ It is a shame that they let the center look so run down. The left side of it looks like it got a new facade, and the Pathmark itself looks decent. (inline with all the rest of the Pathmarks) But the old Rickel and the Big Lots in between the two look down right rundown.

I have a radical idea for the former A&P/Super Fresh/Kmart/Sears Essentials plaza in Marlton: make the former grocery anchor a Goodwill store, and make the former Kmart/Sears building a state driver's license office.

Sorry to double post, and I actually posted about this in another thread but it didn't fit well there. Does anyone remember what the Dollar Tree in Westmont used to be? Was it a Jo-Ann Fabrics before they moved to the left of the Super Fresh that just closed (the Dollar Tree is to the right of where Super Fresh was)? If so, it's odd that Jo-Ann is now moving again, all the way to Cherry Hill.

There might be sufficient density and traffic that Target might be able to pull off opening a second CH store one being at the closed Oskar Huber/Floors USA site (formerly a Clover which would be very fitting), and rebuild it with a second level to increase store sq. footage. Another option is to strike a deal with Planet Fitness and buy out Planet Fitness' lease and relocation costs so that it could move to some other space easily nearby.

Target keeps two stores in Springfield, PA:
857 Baltimore Pike and 1200 Baltimore Pike. Google maps has these at 0.8 miles apart.

Both are two level Targets, coincidentally a former Wanamaker's and Strawbridge's.

From the site in CH, the Marlton store is 3.1 miles away, which is greater separation than the Springfield sites. A CH East Target would sipher customers from Wal-Mart and ShopRite on 70, and the pharmacy business from ShopRite, as there are no other pharmacies between the I-295 interchange to where 70 meets 73.

The Marlton store would continue to pull in traffic from Marlton, part of Voorhees and Berlin while a CH East Target store would service 08003 and 08034 zip codes of CH, and part of Marlton/Medford as well, and thru traffic on 70 (e.g. Philly to Toms River motorists that take 70).

The Target across the CH Mall pulls in a very different traffic, so a new CH store on 70 in the east side of town would have minimal impact over there, but more impact to the existing Marlton store. But the density and traffic of the CH East to Marlton area might be able to warrant two Targets.

Actually, the older Target in Springfield was built as a Strawbridge & Clothier in 1952, long before Springfield Mall opened in 1974. Sort of ironically, the Strawbridge's moved to the mall where the John Wanamaker was, but ended up closing because there was already a Macy's (was briefly a Bamberger's before that) at the other end of the mall. Had a big remodel not been done of this Macy's in 2002, most likely the Strawbridge's would have converted to Macy's instead. Target took several years to open their newer store at the mall after Strawbridge's closed. I don't get why Target had to wait. Supposedly the older Target will close when its lease expires. The Bed Bath & Beyond next door is also part of the former Strawbridge's building, but only takes up part of the upper level. It's a shame the Target can't be connected to the BB&B somehow inside, because it's dangerous if not impossible to walk between the two stores, and only safe to park twice.

Could there have been a Woolworth in Westmont where the Dollar Tree now is, in the ex-Clover/Super Fresh plaza?
