Yes, that's why it was a joke. Nonetheless, I don't think most people would associate utopia with soulless suburban sprawl, however instrusive and gaudy the McMansions East of Springdale Road happen to be.

I am sure that the people of eastern Cherry Hill are happy with the investments in their homes that they've made. I take urban enthusiasts seriously (I am one) until they start putting their emotions into it. It may be soulless to you, but to someone else it is paradise.

And that's their prerogative. Mind you, I'm only a half-urban elitist . I don't wish death on places like Cherry Hill, and recognize they serve a purpose. It's a class privilege to live somewhere like Haddonfield or Moorestown where you get character and good schools and amenities. Cherry Hill-Voorhees-Marlton-Mount Laurel offer all that and contain some very affordable encalves; I often recommend them to prospective families moving into the region for that very reason. I can also understand why Jewish and Indian families would prefer these areas (especially Cherry Hill and Voorhees) over the comparatively homogeneous Quaker towns.

Like I said, it was a joke more than anything else and I did not intend to cause any offense.

And you do? What's up with the pic of does Mandy Patinkin?

In was thinking of #1:

miscreant (plural miscreants)
  1. One who has behaved badly, or illegally. The teacher sent the miscreants to see the school principal.
  2. One not restrained by moral principles; an unscrupulous villain..
  3. (theology) One who holds an incorrect religious belief; an unbeliever.

I was referring to the word "utopia" (no question you used miscreant the right way).

And the Mandy Patankin picture is a reference to the oh-so-wonderful movie The Princess Bride. Besides the whole "I am Inigo Montoya, you kill my father, prepare to die" bit, one of the more memorable lines of the film is when he says "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." Like I was saying to soug, it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

I have enjoyed The Princess Bride and know lots of people who remember that line:

But I do not know too many people who remember the line:

Thanks for the explanation.
