Live in Haddonfield. Does anyone know the cost for a hot water heater permit?
Are they required? I know some nearby towns don't require them while some do.
Anyone suggest a plumber to replace a 40gal to 50gal hot water heater?
Any suggestions on brand names?
Thanks
if you already have a hot water heater, a larger one does not require a permit. Brand depends on what you want to spend.. Bradford-White is a good general priced brand.

Call the township office and ask if you require a permit. It's not worth getting a fine. Every town I've lived in required a permit to replace an existing water heater. Wouldn't you feel safer to have it inspected after it was installed? You shouldn't pay the installer the final payment until the final inspection.
Agree and try Sheridan in Collingswood. He did my sump pump drainage line and did excellent work.
Did he actually install your sump pump? I am looking for someone to do that (live in Franklinville) but am terrified of someone who doesn't know what they are doing drilling a hole in my basement floor!
We went with a tankless hot water heater. Love it.
During power outages in Hurricane Sandy, my sister and BIL had no hot water because they have a tankless hot water heater that requires electricity to work. Not slamming tankless units, but I was clueless and thought others might be as well. Just something to consider when buying a new unit.
Ours works with our gas, same as the furnace, stove, etc... But yeah, I would see how it would be a problem for people who had it hooked up to electric heat.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the gas fired, tankless water heater have an electric igniter for on-demand hot water?
