Camden waterfront would be sensible. Isnt there a ferry that connects to Philadelphia even? Isnt there a big L3 Communications site that is gated and all down there by the RCA building?
I look at it like this - Ive worked at corporate facilities in other places, such as Wilmington, DE. Sometimes you have to get in your car and drive and it is more than two or three minutes. Not a big deal. Quick access to 676 and/or 30 means you can get whatever you want. It isnt high traffic.
They could take some plays from a very successful revitalization - the Philadelphia Navy Yard. There is even now a set of shuttles to take employees to the Orange line stop and to 8th and Market to use Patco more conveniently. All that Camden/NJ/NJT would need to do is have a loop to take you to the speedline. In minutes you could be eating lunch in Collingswood, or in Philly.
It would be awesome if they actually moved into that sorry excuse for a place where the Shop Rite is. Actually now that Burlington is in there, it is a bit better... But that would be a good option. Also the shopping center on Brace Road (where the SR was) could be demolished and that would be a decent spot... Maybe. Mt Laurel and all that out there is kind of congested and it isnt THAT quick to the airport and other stuff.
Looks like Cherry Hill may be losing the Subaru Headquarters to the city.
Quote:
In its quest to search for a new spot for its North American headquarters, Subaru of America Inc. has turned its focus to the Philadelphia Navy Yard as one option it is seriously considering.
Subaru of America is in the market for about 225,000 square feet and is reportedly looking throughout the region and figuring out where it should go and which municipality might give it an enticing incentive package. A move, if any, could happen by 2015.
A relocation to the Navy Yard would mean a jobs boost for the city and be an area that wouldn’t too terribly displace its 300 or so employees who work from its current national headquarters at 2235 W. Marlton Pike in Cherry Hill, N.J. It has been in that seven-story, 115,000 square-foot building since 1986.
News out of Cherry Hill:
"CHERRY HILL — Township council is hoping to keep Subaru of America from hitting the road and leaving Cherry Hill. Council on Tuesday took its first step toward revitalizing two underused properties, one of which is viewed as a potential new home for the carmaker’s U.S. headquarters.
The unanimous vote directs the township planning board to conduct a preliminary study to determine whether a 35-acre site at the Victory Refrigeration plant and a 10-acre property on Route 70 set aside for a long-stalled off-track betting facility should be designated as areas in need of redevelopment."

Subaru says they are out of space and want a new facility.
Cherry Hill says, we want you to stay and Subaru says, oh we would like to, but we need to explore options.
Rumors abound about possible relocation to Camden, Philly or another NJ suburb somewhere along 295.
Really strong rumors come out about a possible Navy Yard move.
Cherry Hill is now afraid they will lose Subaru so now they are going to be kicking in tax incentives and redevelopment funds which they were hesitant to do initially.
Subaru, who never really intended to leave Cherry Hill, now gets a good chunk of the cost of their new facility covered by Cherry Hill taxpayers.

That about sum it up?
Ha! Good summary. Isn't that normally how it works, though?
