Hi all,
I'm currently living and going to graduate school in New Brunswick, NJ. I will be working full-time over the summer in Philly, and part-time next year. I'm trying to think of the best place to move in order to have a relatively convenient commute to both cities.
I also have a partner to consider. Our ideal monthly budget is $1,200. We don't currently have a car, but would consider getting one if need be. I'd much rather take the train into Philly, though.
Or take the West Trenton or Trenton SEPTA Regional Rail lines from Trenton into Philadelphia. Will likely be MUCH faster than taking the River Line in NJ then transferring over and taking the PATCO line into Philly.

Thanks for any help.
At your budget level, Ewing would probably be your best bet. The West Trenton SEPTA Regional Rail station is located there, and there is an apartment complex at the end of Silvia Street (walking distance to that station) that has rents that are in your range. There are also other nice apartments in the area as well. The only problem with that is you might have problems getting to New Brunswick without a car - or will you be out of school then? There is no way to get to both New Brunswick and Philadelphia on public transportation without living near Trenton, and while the rents in and near Trenton are in your price range, you don't want to live there. You can take a bus from the vicinity of the West Trenton SEPTA station to downtown Trenton and then get the NE Corridor NJ Transit train to New Brunswick, but that will take some time.
