I live in northern NJ. I've been offered a job in Princeton. My goal is to find a modest place to stay in the Princeton area during the week and return home on weekends. The problem is, I've got two big dogs --German Shepherds -- and I'm having no luck finding places that accept dogs. The big apartment complexes have weight restrictions and/or breed restrictions that eliminate my dogs. Private landlords mostly seem to have no-pet policies. I'd love to find a carriage house or small cottage with a yard and some privacy a bit out in the country, but that may not be realistic.
I'm willing to spend about $1,200/month and put down a significant pet deposit. Can anyone recommend towns or areas where I might have some luck finding pet-friendly housing? I don't care about schools, and I'm okay with somewhat sketchy areas -- after all, I have two German Shepherds!
