Really. You are telling me in the richest country in the world there are 'boarded up homes , ghetto, and slumps'? No offence, but I find that very hard to believe. It is fine to say you don't find Camden very nice but now you sound like you are talking about Africa ...
Hope you are not a troll - but you have a very slanted view of America. ABC news did a report about Camden, New Jersey. IT IS THE MOST DANGEROUS CITY IN THE UNITED STATES. DO YOU INTERNET RESEARCH. GOLF COURSES? REALLY? Other than the Aquarium and Battleship New Jersey - there is NOTHING IN CAMDEN BUT BROKEN DOWN HOMES, DRUGS, AND MANY HOMELESS PEOPLE AND THE HIGHEST CRIME RATE NEXT TO NEWARK, NJ.

don't forget to stop by the historical town of Chester,PA. just down the road a bit from Camden on the opposite side of the river. They have a Harrahs casino, horsetrack racing and a professional soccer stadium plus a movie studio too. There is much more to see and do in Chester, PA. Stop by 3rd and Lamokin and tell em you still smoking and see what happens.

After that, hit the beautifully cosmopolitan city of Trenton.

Don't...unless you have your NJ License to Carry. Nevermind, those are rarer than unicorns.

Yeah, so he just happened to pick "Camden" as a destination out of all the possible places to visit in the United States.

And do clueless people in The Netherlands say "OMG"?

I'm of Dutch descent myself. They aren't that stupid. But they often ARE very funny!

Hilarious trolling.

How could anyone possibly think that was a real query? HOW?

Hilarious! Camden as a tourist destination!

Hey I worked in Camden briefly in the mid 70s at the Camden County Board of Social services.....at the time about 90% of the population was on welfare. It hasn't gotten any better over last few decades and I avoid venturing in there at all costs though they are trying to turn things around. My son works for a landscape architectural firm who is in the planning stages of trying to develop some attractive common areas there (I can only imagine how long that lasts!) and they met with some city planners over the winter at an evening meeting....I freaked knowing he would be there at night!...just worrying about him going out to the car and getting out of Dodge in one piece! The only good thing was that it was way too cold out to have any activity going on.

To be fair, the OP made that statement after my original post.

It appears that New Jersey's official tourism website encourages people to visit Camden: link. Seems rather irresponsible to me. They don't even give the slightest hint it may be dangerous there.

As a follow up, I have contacted my American friends who recommended me to go visit Camden and confronted them with their advice. It appears they wanted to scare the **** out of me for underestimating the length of their swimming pool and by doing so accidentally trashing their car. Really, risking someones life over a car. What were they thinking?
