Hi All

My Comcast high speed internet bill is up to $69/month and I am fed up. Are there any other options for high speed internet that are cheaper? I do not have a phone line in our house (we use cell phones only) so I don't think DSL would be an option.

Thanks for any tips!

Verizon FIOS has been installed in many areas of Camden County.

DSL... well versizon would probably rerun the like to your house, but I dont think the speeds on DSL come close.

I have FIOS and I think they charge the same rate. You may be able to score a better deal as a new Customer. Also, Comcast has some kind of essentials plan that they charge something like $50/mo instead of $70. I think you need to buy the Comcast thing in-store.

Thanks Tom. I will call Comcast and see if they have any other alternatives. I checked into FIOS but it's not available at our address so not an option.

Hi!
I bought my own hot spot with 5GB.
I use it anywhere. It comes in very well, and I can feel fairly safe browsing without compromising my data via a shared link.

I use approximately 3Gs per month and pay $47 per. I did buy Norton 360 for my laptop and desktop. The tablet, mainly Wifi, simply id's to the hot spot.

I have Verizon FiOS. I think it's $59 a month. You might get an introductory deal for a few months that is cheaper.

Hotspots are great... but wont hold up to home usage.
start streaming Youtube or netflix movies and the 3g is gone in one hour.

BTW, the family share planes for LTE (4g) service include the hotspot for free, and all new smartphones have it built in.

I frequently sit at the diner counter on an early weekend morning with my iPhone "hot spotting" out to my much larger iPad... reading the news and surfing the web.

So depending on your situation you may be paying for something you already have in your basic phone plan. If not, get some friends together who have smarphones and share an acct. AT&T with 4 smartphones, 10gb, and the hot spot included is $160 right now. ($40 per)

But we digress.

Hi Folks

The smart phone idea wouldn't work for us as we do not have smart phones, nor do we want them. At one point, we did use a hot spot device that we got from TMobile, but it did not work well for our home computer. We stream Amazon Prime for most of our t.v. watching (we got rid of cable) so we need something that can hold up to that.

Looks like we might be stuck with Comcast for now.

Play a little poker with them.
call them and tell them you got a great deal from Verizon on DSL... and before you switch, you want to make sure you arent missing out on any deals or specials with Comcast.

I bet they offer you a 2 yr contract for internet that is 1/2 the price.

BTW: for our new house we are remodeling in Gloucester County, I started out only with internet with Comcast and we are paying $29.

We have them coming out Saturday to install the TV service... its crazy (cheap) what they gave me.
