Moving with my family to Mt. Laurel and wanted to know your thoughts on the area near Ark Rd/38 ...we are looking to move to an older neighborhood near 38 off of ark rd.

I'm hearing bad things about Larchmont elementary. Should I be concerned? I know the taxes/ prices are lower but is this area considered low income or not good from a socio-economic standpoint? Is this a good family area with young families and kids?

Appreciate any opinions from folks

I lived very close to that area (off of Larchmont Blvd and Rte. 38) for about 8 years. Overall, I think the area is nice. Although there are some apartment complexes in the area, I definitely wouldn't call Mt. Laurel a low income area. (Actually some of the apt. complexes are upscale and quite nice....some others are so-so).

It's a middle to upper middle class area (depending on the specific area of Mt. Laurel) and a safe area to live IMO.

I cannot speak on Larchmont Elementary though...maybe someone else can chime in on that!

Glad to be of help! I am actually looking to move back to the Mt. Laurel general area (would prefer to live in PA, but need to compromise with the fiancé who has family in South Jersey).

Camden County is getting on my nerves with the Cherry Hill, Voorhees daily traffic madness along Rte. 561 and would rather be in Burlington County (where Rte. 38 is so much better..lol).

The new Capt. America movie does look awesome...If it weren't for the weather AND the fact that Friday night is date night for the kiddies at the movies, I'd probably be watching it now.. instead of being on here!

P.S. Thank you for the friend request! I just added you

Having lived in Mt. Laurel the past 9 years and a few years in Marlton prior to that, here is my take. I did look at that side of Mt. Laurel back in 2004 when I was house hunting.

My perception of Mt. Laurel along Ark and Rt/38 is that there are lots more rental over there. I think it's a bit less family oriented than other developments in Mt. Laurel.

As for Larchmont. It does lag slightly compared to the other elementary but they are all very similiar and from 5th grade up, all the elementary school is merged together anyway. It does have a higher percentage of social-economic disadvantage enrollment compared to the other school.

Should you be concerned overall? No.. Mt. Laurel school is above average. Are there neighborhood that I would prefer over Larchmont? Yes.

If you want some suggestions on older neighborhoods, feel free to private message me. I can recommended a few.
