Just moved into Hunterdon County. I'm concerned about going with Comcast as my cable/internet/phone provider because of all the talk about the company's poor customer service. Looks like my only options are Direct TV and CenturyLink. Any thoughts? Thanks!

My opinion is that ALL providers will have poor customer service. There may be helpful CS that are within each of the company but overall, they are all bad these days.

I would compare what each company offering is based on what you need and take the best deal. Most are 18-24 months contract so switch at the end of the term. In today's world, you almost always save money when you switch. In the 9 years I have been at my house, I've went from Comcast, Dish, DirectTV and now back to Comcast.

I am a DIRECTV loyalist. Mainly because I need the Sunday ticket for the NFL. But I've never had an issue with the customer service. They've always been pretty attentive to any issue to brought to them.

Shapoppa I just dealt with the same exact issue and ultimately picked Comcast only because my previous experiences with Direct Tv were beyond horrible. I constantly lost signal anytime it rained. They would black out channels I was paying for at the drop of a hat because of contact disputes and most importantly i could not get any Flyers of Phillies games. That being said I would say Comcast is not much better at all. Their internet is beyond horrible. I'm so disgusted with it. I've called customer service 6 times in the past 2 months and gotten the run around. I so wish Fios was available in the area because I would dump Comcast in a heart beat. So unfortunatley, you just have to pick your poison neither is all that great unfortunately.

Comcast. Just easier to deal with, set up, and install. Fellow Hunterdon County here.

Cable services were originally (decades ago) hundreds of companies. Could almost say mom-and-pop

Comcast bought them all and consolidated.

I honestly don't know how deep that consolidation goes... but it seems that at least some components are tied to the very original cable provider (In my hometown of Bellmawr for example, it was Audubon Cable) and it makes me think that features and performance varies depending on where you live.

In Bellmawr we were not happy with Comcast but persevered. Big screen TV downstairs couldn't even get a clear pic on many more obscure channels

In new house (Deptford) we have great picture all over the house (that was Jones I believe)

Addign to that... how much has the home owner split the signal in the house?

In Bellmawr we split it all over the place and probably added to the problems
In Deptford we mostly gutted the place, and had a chance to run all new wires to the room, directly to a Comcast supplied splitter/booster. Each room has its one non-interrupted cable... so that could also impact our cleaner picture
