I live in Cherry Hill New Jersey in a high rise apartment complex and have a very noisy neighbor above me who is up until all hours of the night banging around, hammering, making loud noises. I have gone to my landord who sent the neighbor a cease and disist letter and then I called the police at 11 pm at night once this year as the noise woke me up from sleeping on a work night. The cease and disist letter went nowhere and the landlord told me it's very hard to evict someone due to noise in NJ.

The neighbor lies, says he isn't making noise and that I am lying. What is the noise ordinance law in Cherry Hill? He also told me (noisy neighbor) that if I call the police again for noise, he will charge me with harassment.

The noise is 24/7 and he never leaves his apartment, doesn't have a job.

I spent thousands of dollars to move to my apartment, was on a waiting list and just got settled here 6 months ago. Why should I move bc the upstairs neighbor parties, runs a business out of his apartment and makes loud noise all the time but lies and says it was "the pipes" or "water noise in pipes" that makes the noise.

I have lived in Cherry Hill, NJ apartments for 10 years and never had any issues with neighbor until now and the noise won't stop and he is getting away with it. What recourse do I have?

Get a cheap tape recorder. When the noise is going late at night say the date & time then let it run for a while. Keep doing this. That's your evidence. Also ask someone to come over for the night & you have a witness.
