Hello-

I have lived in North Jersey all my life and am currently working in Jersey City. I have come to a point in my life where I am over the metro area and want something more calm and low key but nothing too slow either. I am currently working with my job to see if they can transfer me down to Marlton, NJ however if that does not work I have been applying to jobs with the Phily/ south jersey area. I am single and will be moving with my dog. My family lives in central jersey so I do not want to be too far either. Does anyone know of good towns I should be looking to rent my apartment in? I would like to avoid the crazy traffic areas as well (hence why I need to get out of the metro area)

Thanks All!

A few questions/notes:

How old are you? You say you are single, but are you looking to date at this point? If so, easy access to Philly is a very important thing to consider for nightlife and such. PATCO towns would do you well if this is the case.

Where specifically in Central Jersey does your family live and what is the furthest that you would like to be from them? This is another thing to consider.

Lastly, don't expect traffic to be that much better in the Philly metro area of South Jersey. Yes, it is less densely populated than the New York metro area of North Jersey, but there is also far less public transportation, so in the end it pretty much evens out.

Once these questions are answered and have a more specific idea of your preferences, I can definitely help you out more.

I am 26. Yes single but what I meant is that I will be taking this move alone. My brother will be moving to PA within the next year, my sister is in Monmouth county and my parents have yet to figure out where south they want to move. I do know that the traffic is probably just as bad within the city areas what towns/ area does the PATCO lead you? I guess my biggest concern is because I am not in HS making new friends within the area who can show me around is slim to none haha..

I am currently in an MBA program in north jersey however I may consider transferring, not sure yet,

Hmm...okay now I strongly recommend one of the PATCO towns.

FYI the PATCO is like the PATH. It's 24/7/365 rail that connects some towns in Camden County with Philadelphia. It starts in Lindenwold and has stops in Voorhees, Cherry Hill, Haddonfield, Haddon Township (Westmont), Collingswood, and Camden before heading into Philly.

This will be beneficial for you if you work in Philly or just want to go into the city for any other reason. It will also be beneficial if you want to transfer your MBA program to either a school in Philly or to Rutgers-Camden. I would suggest Westmont or Collingswood.

The downside would be that if you work in Marlton, then the drive won't be too pleasant, depending on where in Marlton it is. You would have to go down Cuthbert Blvd. to get onto 70 in Cherry Hill and then take that to Marlton. From there, you might have to get onto 73, depending on where the office is. Marlton is a pretty big town, so there is variance in what the drive time will be. Maybe it won't be too bad traffic-wise, since you would be doing a reverse commute, but I wouldn't know for sure.

Cherry Hill traffic is as bad as anything in NNJ, if looking for less congested head further east or south.

Are you familiar with Lindenwold? I found an apartment there that accepts my dog (german shepherd).

Lindenwold is pretty much suburban Camden, and many of the apartment complexes are high in crime.

South Jersey is nothing but congested roads, housing developments, and plazas. Id recommend it as an area to raise a family, but decides that's it's a pretty dull. Philly is nothing like New York and the 'singles' scene is dead unless you like milfs or friend some town locals your age who never moved out of their moms house. Good luck!
