I find it to be a nice area. Also look at Mount Laurel.

Maple Shade is decent, the quality of schools around here is going to run along the same lines as the cost of housing.

Delran or Cinnaminson would be an upgrade, for similar money, IMO, if you're looking for a smaller "in town" school district and not one of those regional deals like Mt Laurel/Marlton/Medford.

I live in Cherry Hill on the border to Maple Shade.

Maple Shade is a decent somewhat blue-collar town.

Taxes are cheaper there because it is in Burlington County where as Cherry Hill is in Camden County. Cherry Hill schools are top-notch but I never heard anything bad about MS schools.

The one thing I will say though... Last week when we had that big snow storm, hubby had to drive to Maple Shade to go to the paint store. We are only 7 minutes from there. All the roads (including the cul de sac we live on) were paved, salted and very driveable. As soon as he got in to Maple Shade (Burlington County), even the main roads were hardly plowed and he was sliding all over the place.

...just a random thing but hey....that's what people come on to this site for, right?

Good luck!

Shanny

Actually Shanny, I observed the same thing back when we still lived in NJ. In one of our apartments, in Maple Shade, we were on the border of Cherry Hill/Maple Shade. After snowstorms, the part of Kings Hwy that was Maple Shade was not touched and the part of Kings Hwy that was Cherry Hill would be clear. I noticed this many times.

That's what you get in the lower tax towns. By comparison, during the recent storm, the local Moorestown roads were better than 38 and 295. Maple Shade is very average, schools are average. The best thing going for MS is the fact that it is centrally located to a ton of amenities and the general area is very desirable.
