All depends. If it is a new house it is more likely to sell unfurnished versus an old house unfurnished.

Now overall I would say a STAGED house is more likely to sell versus an empty house or regularly furnished house. Now just because a home is furnished does not mean it is more likely to sell because the furniture could be ugly and only the taste of the owner. A STAGED house is the most likely to sell in the shortest amount of time because the furniture is usually neutral and allows the rooms to flow efficently.

Not being a snoot but how much of this new crap regarding selling homes has been invented by realtors and home improvement shows like the ones on HGTV??

STAGED, give me a break. How is someone actually supposed to live in their home while it's on the market and keep it in a STAGED look?

One poster said furniture may be ugly...so what, you throw it out and buy new to STAGE the house.

Common sense..keep the house clean and uncluttered as possible. fresh paint..lawn maintained etc etc
Yeah someone make think your furniture is ugly because we all have different tastes..I can overlook "ugly" furniture..actually I much prefer empty houses when looking but that's just me

Both homes we've bought, new construction, were based on viewing empty models. I'm with those who think it is easier to visualize your own stuff in empty rooms.

I'm thinking people who look at empty homes that have been lived in probably wonder what is so wrong with the place that it hasn't been purchased already?

Not true. When you are staging you are renting the furniture unless you decide to do it yourself and buy it which makes no sense. You can also pull any statistics and see that staged home on average sit on the market far shorter than non-staged homes.

And as for the ugly furniture comment, many people can not look past the ugly furniture and ugly items in a home, that is why there is staging.

OMG..people actually incur the expense of RENTING furniture to STAGE a home?? Like I said to much HGTV in my opinion ...

I truly feel for anyone trying or thinking of selling their home right now...I would wait & ride out this storm
