Man, I spent many a Saturday and Sunday in my youth picking blueberries with my family out Route 70 past the Whiting area.
We froze many containers each summer and they made the best treats. I liked just having a bowl of blueberries with cool whip topping as much as the pancakes, muffins, etc.
And then we did the same with peaches and apples later in the season. My folks loved the "pick your own" farms!
I'm heading to my dad's doctor next week in Pompton Plains...anybody know any pick-your-own blueberries in that area (Wayne, Butler)...or do I have go more rural?
Location: Jersey City.... some of the time, anyway.

Blueberries.... cool
Blueberries as state fruit.....cool. Not something I knew off the top of my head, but it makes a certain amount of sense. Anyone know about how long the season lasts?
Today was the annual Whites Bog Blueberry Festival in Pemberton (Burlington County). They have plenty of crafts, tours, and of course blueberry everything - ice cream, cheesecake, cookies, cakes, muffins, and fresh by the pint! I went on a walking tour and learned allllll about Elizabeth White, we even visited her house.
