My car is desperately needing a whole body makeover because of all of dents as a result of the city parkings. Can anyone please recommend a good auto body shop in or around central/northen new jersey that's not too expensive to fix as I would be paying out of my own pocket?

A lot depends on the car, and whether you're going to be subjecting it to the same abuse again. If we're talking about a 10 year old Toyota Corolla that's going to be headed back into the city for another beating, go to Maaco- they'll do a decent job of fixing the dents and blowing a coat of paint on for probably less that $1,000. If we're talking about a new Lexus or Mercedes, that's a different story, and you could easily be looking at $5k+ to straighten it out and re-paint it.

It is 2007 toyota camry and I don't expect to go back to the city any more as I have moved to new jersey. Maaco sounds like a good idea. Do you have any experience with a particular Maaco shop that you would recommend?

I used the Maaco shop in Woodbridge many years ago- may not even be there anymore. They're all pretty similar in the products and services they provide, so I doubt you'll see much difference from one to the other. Just don't expect a factory-quality paint job when it's all said and done- if that's what you want, they're not the place to go, but if you're just looking to make the car look better than it currently does, they'll be fine.

Thanks! I wanted to get a few estimates to compare prices. Is there any other recommendation besides Maaco?

"Good and cheap" is a perfect example of an oxymoron especially when it comes to anything automotive.

Try Reyco Automotive in Fairview. They have a website and you can check out their great reviews on google. www.reycoauto.com Great customer service and they won't give you the run around and they know there stuff. Very clean shop and customer service waiting area with a nice Keurig coffee machine.

Try Joe D's in Garfield, right on Marsellus Place.
