The in-laws have down sized so for the first time since we left NJ, we need to stay at a hotel. I've googled until I can't google any more and all I'm finding are chains above what I'd like to pay. I'm sure there are probably some good finds if I were there.
We're a family with children, so we don't want any sleazy hourly type establishments. We want to be in the Newark area, but would be willing to travel about 20 minutes from the downtown area. I'd like to stay at $60 and below? Is that possible here? My husband mentioned something on 1 and 9 could be a possibility, but I need some names and first hand experiences to go on.
Last week, I got Hyatt Regency at Princeton for only $40 when I bid 3.5* hotels there. In Newark area, you can get nice hotels near Newark Airport. I have stayed almost all hotels in NJ thru Princeline.com
If you get hotels near Jersey Garden that has very cool air (I was there yesterday) (I am waiting for a brand new Embassy to built soon and open 2011), then your in laws can shop in this wonderful mall, and IKEA is nearby that you can get 99 cent breakfast.
Someone just got 2.5* Newark-Meadowlands (Airport EWR) Fairfield Inn and Suites, $41 and this nice hotel has complimentary breakfast, free parking and Internet access.
Check on kayak, orbitz, etc for Newark Airport (EWR) hotels. You can probably find one in your budget.
