Once about 15 or so years ago, one of my tires was apparently worn so badly they put a big red sticker that said "24" on my windshield above the fail sticker. I asked what it meant, they said I had 24 hours to go get a new tire and come back! I'm actually glad, because I probably wouldn't even look at it (was young then!) and it could have blown while I was barreling down the highway. I was scared even driving to the tire store! I can see paying someone to overlook window tint, but not for serious matters such as tires and brakes.

They always fail me for my gas cap, now I just replace it before I even go! I feel like that is just a money-maker for them, since the company gets to charge the state twice when you fail and have to come back.

I'm in the same boat. My car will be 4 years this year. The announcement says that anyone who has the 4 year sticker will receive a 1 year extension sticker in the mail.

I missed the boat as my car is due this month.

I actually went private for no particular reason other than convenience. The gas station was right by my house and took 15 minutes. $67 later, it was worth getting it out of the way.

Regarding this new rule that they will only be testing emissions my check engine light is on because my O2 sensor is faulty, will they still automaticly fail you if the check engine light is on?

thanks,
