I am past club going age but I think there are different types of clubs in Hoboken. In general the bars uptown attact an older crowd and the bars downtown a younge crowd. In my yonger days I spent time at Maxwell's, they generally had pretty good bands. Most of the other places I went to are closed, man I am old!
Where is the concentrated nightlife area in Hoboken? What would be some good clubs to go to there?
Washington Street, and as you go south, closer to the PATH station, increasingly on surrounding streets, too. Club recommendations I can't really give. The only time I go to a club, bar, etc. is to work as a musician. I have played in Hoboken, but even when I play, I don't experience the club as a patron would. Hoboken is very small, by the way--it doesn't take more than an hour to walk around the circumference of the city, so even if you didn't know where to go and you were to drive around Hoboken, you'd quickly figure it out.
Most of the bars are concentrated along and around Washington St., south of 6th St. Once you get north of 6th St. or west of Willow Ave. it's mostly just residential.

Not exactly, There are many bars and restaurants north of 6th. There is an especially high concentration on 14th street as well as Lua in the Shipyard.
is planet still around? i havent been going to hoboken since relocating to philly. that used to be a popular spot. i think black bear had a bit of a club like scene. also i think hudson st right near the PATH had some places that were clubbish.

No, I think Teak (restaurant) is in that space now.

Actually 7 blocks north, you forgot to count Newark.
