Cops are in a risky job field to begin with, why does anyone expect them to increase that risk just by getting up close and personal with a taser, fists, or night stick. Cops are trained but just the basics. There are people out there bigger than the cops and also skilled fighters, and don't forget, the guy may be un-armed, but if he gets close he can get the officers gun and then what.

I don't blame an officer for shooting someone that is lunging at them. If you were in the streets and a thug started with you and had a gun, would you lunge at them? No, you know it may be deadly. You don't attack anyone without realizing you may come out dead from it.

Default no conspiracy, as cop is hung before the facts are in

"Hope he hangs.........."

Holy Shirley Sherrod batman!

Hope the cops don't have that attitude!

Lot of that going around these days.

Best advice is as NJkate advises.... let this simmer.

Updated story.

Pretty much seems like this guy was a deeply closeted homosexual who panicked when he realized his family would find out he got arrested for having sex with another man at a park.

I dont blame the cop at all in this scenario.
Yeah, he was a sleazy homosexual dude who had no business being out in public soliciting or having sex with other sleazy homosexual dudes.......but you think that justifies his being killed by a cop?

Their job is to keep order, catch criminals, and keep people safe, not risk their life. If EVERY cop did it your way and got within reaching distance, how many cops are going to end up dead, beaten, and criminals escaping.

Risking their life is just an inherent side effect to what they do, not what they do

And if other people weren't involved, it seems like Gaymon wasn't getting his "money's worth" at the park.

Anyway, what irks me more is that it's a problem for folks to have sex in public. Leave them the hell alone. That should be legal, imo, and the police should be concentrating on violent crimes and property crimes.

This is one of the craziest things I have ever read on this forum..........

Have to disagree that their duties stop short of a responsibility to do everything they could to avoid killing someone. If that entails putting their life at risk, I consider it part of their job.

Why would they have the night sticks, tasers, and other non-lethal weapons at their disposal?

And do you really think trying another method of subduing a person that is not threatening you with a weapon is not part of their responsibilities as servants to the community? You don't think they have a responsibility to this guys family and the community to do more to avoid putting a bullet in him?

I also do not think this was some "crazed, drug fueled crackhead" coming at him that he could clearly and quickly determine was a threat to him.

Shooting is the easy way out........

can us citizens have probable cause to kill cops if they lunge at us violently? cops need to learn how to disarm people withjout shooting their guns off why do they train in self defense for?

he could have used a taser, or non life threatning bulllets, cops are too trigger happy, how many people are gonna lose their lives just for running towards, cops get away with too much stuff.

MANIAC COPS how do citizens know when given up to a cops demand no if they are dealing with one(MANICA COP) and sometimes its too late your beaten the hell up or killed
