hi, im a college student in jersey city and just got a 1 bedroom condo on harrison ave between west side ave and jfk blvd. Friends of mine from Jersey City said it was an ok area to live but i just want to hear what other people have to say. I'm always aware and cautious and have a lot of street smarts so incase anyone was wondering. Thanks

I know that area. You shouldn't have too many problems. I think your neighbors will tell you the further south in JC you go, the worse it gets. But I think your biggest problem will be that wonderful Hudson county traffic

Not the best area but far from the worst. Are you attending St Peters?
If so not a far walk at all but at 10 PM the cretins are out all over the place so keep your wits about you.

Theres probably a bus line that runs on JFK like kate said thats not one of the more nicer areas of JC. But if you have street smarts you should be fine.

That's what I thought NJCU is the old State Teachers College
You have buses running on JFK & on Westside Ave....10pm at night I'd venture to say get the Bus on JFK by the college...more activity with students, faculty coming & going...those side streets between JFK & WS are dark....that area of WS isn't much old buildings that used to house Ryerson Steel & Metro glass..there is a park lot also for NJCU

From PATH Terminal at Journal Square
Take the #10 South Boulevard bus from platform D1 directly to the University's main entrance. Or board the #80 Newark Avenue/Gates Avenue bus, and get off at Audubon and West Side Avenues. From here, you may either walk the three short blocks to campus, or take the free shuttle bus which stops inside the University's parking lot on West Side Avenue.

Do you own a bulletproof vest? Chainmail? How fast can you run? Ever take Judo?

Just kidding. You'll be fine.
