I'm trying to buy a co-op.

The contract was signed by the seller on June 22, and yesterday, my lawyer received it. My mortgage broker and I got copies by fax. I then received a mortgage commitment letter.

Which means I now finally had the two final pieces to complete my co-op purchase application as required by the co-op board.

But it turns out the deadline for application submissions for July was... last THURSDAY!

I'm upset because the contract took so long to get done. The seller changed lawyers, then the lawyer was away from his office for 2 straight business days.

Now, I admit I misunderstood the deadline; I thought it was from June 21 until the end of June, but I got that wrong. Still, the contract took so long to finish.

The property IS under contract, the mortgage is just about done, so it's just submitting the paperwork and scheduling (and acing) the board interview in July. But it totally sucks that moving into my first owned home will be delayed by a month over such little things.

delays are typical, don't get stressed out, just go with the flow
