My soon-to-be-ex husband is considering a move to the Lower Roseville section of Newark, NJ and wants our daughter to stay with him there. I have heard/read that this is a very unsafe neighborhood.
Is my information correct? I sure would appreciate your help since I know nothing about the Newark area.
Its not one of the worst / most dangerous areas of Newark. Its Average Cityness , its an Urban area. Yeah theres Crime and but its no where near the level if you go a few miles south into the West ward or in the South Wards of Newark. That part of the North ward is starting to improve form what ive seen and my east Orange Friends are saying. But its still not as nice as Forest Hills which is the crown jewel of the North ward. But the ward and neighborhood vary block to block , so it doesn't hurt to check it out.
Since it's south of Park Avenue don't bother. Basically between there and 280 heading towards E. Orange I'd would try to steer clear from, even if a)it depends on the block and b)not as bad as other parts. Upper Roseville is different. More working class, quieter, less projects, etc.
Orange zone on the safety map. Make of that what you will....
