I'm considering accepting a new job in Parsippany NJ. I'm a single guy in my mid-late 30's and so would prefer not to live in suburbia, however I also have some concerns about my commute were I to live closer to the city.

Any thoughts on a good location in which to consider living? Should I consider Hoboken / Jersey City and if so, what should I expect in terms of a commute? Other options?

Hoboken, JC are good options, but you might get tired of the distance. Montclair has an urban feel to it and is about 10 miles closer than those other towns. Nearby Morristown might fit your tastes, it is only minutes from Pars, and is starting to get a nickname of Hoboken-West.
