I´m moving to NYC area in the next month.
Í´m a little bit lost, specially because I´m not from USA, and "almost" never been in USA (my experience is Miami 3 times during business meetings - )
I was looking at the threads here, in other websites... and I´m still lost!
Looking at the Blue Ribbon reports , I found Tenafly...
Is this area a family environment?
It has good elementary school
(I´m still dealing with the american school system, not sure if my 9 years old and 13 years old boys are in the elementary or junior high, or secondary...)
I can afford up to US$ 3,000 rental, so if you have any other areas to suggest me with easy commute to NYC (Downtown), good and family environment and Blue Ribbon (or kind of ) elementary schools, I really appreciate!

Tks a lot!!!!!!
for 3k a month you can do better than tenafly, if you plan on working in lower manhattan, depending on how long you want to commute, there are may towns that meet your criteria. Provide more details and you can steered towards a good place to live

Hi, tks for your answer!
I´d love having a maximum 30minutes by bus or train. The starting working hour will be a little different (starting 6AM), so maybe traffic will not be a problem, but trains and buses schedules, but returning home will be at the rush hour, and 1hour will be acceptable.
My concern is about schools AND comute, and an area with houses (not condos)

there are many places you can consider, tenafly is not an easy place to commute from. you can consider anything along most rail lines that run into Hoboken, and then connect to thepath or a ferry to get to lower manhattan, or you could find a town along the NEC line into newark and connect with path to lower manhattan, if you would consider almost an hours commute and an expensive ferry ride to lower manhattan, northern monmouth county would work. In monmouth you'll get more house for your money but the tradeoff is time and cost of commute.
Hum... so... I´ll be in the same situation if I get another city with smaller houses and less time to comute?
Tks for your answer!
If I can ask more... and what about schools in this area?
Cliffside Park, North Arlington are good places?
TKS
Sorry, I made a mistake. i know these places are not in Monmouth
are there In Mounmouth a wonderful school district?
