I have to commute from Long Branch, NJ to New Brunswick, and the worst part of my trip is Route 36 in Long Branch. Does anybody know a better way to pick up the GSP from Ocean Ave (Pier Village). You can PM me if you don't want your secrets spread.

TIA

Take Ocean south to Cedar (you pass the Windmill and the Tasti D Lite, it's the West End section.) Make a right on Cedar. Now, either you can stay on Cedar and pick up 36 (you'll be going straight but at some point Cedar becomes 71 and has different names) and you will make a left onto 36 at the Shoprite OR from Cedar you turn left onto Wall Street and take that to where 35 and 36 meet at the mall and make a left on to 36 there. Last time I was on Wall, though, they were doing some kind of construction and I couldn't get on 36 north so you should check that out first.

I don't know if it's shorter, but those roads might move better than 36 (Joline) in Long Branch.
