I got a job offer at Rutgers and I am thinking of buying a house in that area. I am looking at houses in the range of 500k-600k. It can be either single family house or townhouse. I prefer new constructions and safe area. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!
I think there's townhouses on Commercial Ave (near the rt. 18 ramp & rutgers public safety building)...but i'm not 100% sure on that. Check for anything along rt. 18, there should be something there.
The Rutgers University Off-Campus Housing website is very helpful. You will need to create an account to be able to search for housing though. Also the website is a bit wonky, just scroll down and you will see the page text.

Seeing that New Brunswick is a very central location you have plenty of close towns. I would suggest East Brunswick, New Brunswick (Hiram Square), Piscataway, Edison, and Metuchen. If you need help on particular areas within these homes, just ask.
Thank you! I found a small development off Ryders lane (around the milltown road cross) that looks pretty nice. The owner is currently asking for 700k. The only problem is that I noticed all the houses nearby are priced at much lower level (around 300k). I am afraid that this is not good for keep house value.
Also, is that area safe? I heard that EB has very good schools. But it high school is ranked only 75th. Am I looking at the right ranking? Thank you!
my niece has found a job at north brunswick. we are now looking for a rental 1+1 or 2+1 apartment for him.
which areas would be safe?
searching through internet I have found this AVE Sommerset complex located just off I-287 in Somerset County. would you recommend this complex? is it a safe area to live in?
thank you very much in advance

What's the address of it? If it's the one on Franklin Blvd, stay out.
Look at North Village or Briarcrest in North Brunswick. I'm right near both of those, very nice.
