Just curious if anyone is familiar with Rev Gen? Revelation Generation is a Christian concert weekend held in Frenchtown, NJ every Labor Day weekend. They have various artists, some known and unknown, ranging from pop/urban to country and death metal. I volunteered this year to do "Public Safety" or security. My question is: "How is it Christian to participate in mosh pits, slam dancing or circle runs with no regard as to where your fists or feet land?" I saw a kid get KTFO while moshing. He had to be dragged out of the crowd unconscious.
The performers are screaming and growling noise yet are supposed to be positive and spreading HIS word???? The music ignites aggression and violence. How can this be Christian????
Anyone familiar with what I am talking about? Maybe some kids here or parents of kids who do this stuff chime in. I am a 37 y/o male who believes in God and Jesus. I do like speed metal and play drums, but I do not understand the mentality of instigating physical violence at a Christian concert.
I would hazard a guess that the number of kids that get injured at one of these things is so small that it's miniscule compared to the number of injuries on HS football fields, dunken driving or just plain old-fashioned violence, hence not too many are going to see this as a growing problem among our youth.
As far as "screaming and growling noise" not being Chrisitian, that's not for you or I to ascertain, imo.
Certainly not my style but one size does not fit all in the worship of Christ dept.
IIRC, King David was severely chastised by one of his daughters for dancing, leaping about and other un-kingly behavior yet he was doing it out of his love for God. Not for his own aggrandizement or earthly pleasure, I would presume.
Ummm, anyone one of the bands in the Come and Live Tent. If you were there, then you would know what I mean.
