my parents (55-60 y/o) are looking to relocate closer to me and my family (manhattan). we're looking for a very safe neighborhood within reasonable distance to nyc, preferable elderly friendly/has an sizable asian community. my parents can drive, are retired professionals (high school teacher/doctor).

budget for a 2bd home ~ 200k.

unfamiliar with new jersey neighborhoods so wondering if i can get some recommendations on where i can start my search (based on budget/safe neighborhood preference)?

thank you!!

Default Wanaque Reserve?

Try Wanaque Reserve | Active Adult Community Wanaque NJ | Del Webb homes.

Wanaque is certainly not Asian-dominant yet it has adequate ethnic diversity so your parents should feel comfortable. The Reserve is a beautiful place to live, but resale prices begin in the $280s. With the market still deteriorating, you may find something near $250K soon.

Monroe Twp has many adult communities... all price ranges...55 miles to NYC / apprx 45 to Philadelphia.
They can buy a very nice home in that price range with lots of services and ammenities like fitness centers, indoor outdoor pools, community bus and NYC bus at clubhouses... If youd like more info let me know...

Palisades Park in Bergen County has a sizable Asian community. It's super close to NYC, with access to public transportation, though in the area of $200k they would be looking at a condo or coop.

As an aside, I'm kind of choking on your writing about 55-60 yr old people and using the word "elderly" in the same sentence.
