Hello! We are family of 3, and planning to move in Bergen County this fall (hopefully in November).
We are about to close to sell our co-op in queens NY, and will rent a place for a while and look for the place to buy.
We're working parents--my husband works in western NJ and I work in midtown. Our daughter (now 4 yrs) will attend kindergarten next September.
We've been asking around which town looks suitable for us, and interested in Ridgefield Park mainly because its school looks good.
Since we are both working, we definitely need after school. Again, I asked around and learned about NJSACC from my friends who have school age kids in Leonia. Now I am wondering if Ridgefield Park has one, too.

Does anyone know if Ridgefield Park has SACC or similar program?
If the system doesn't exist at all, we should think somewhere else to move in.
I'd appreciate your help in advance. Thank you!

Hmm, never "oyd" of SACC before, but the SACC website njsacc.org tells you to go to this other website for more info:

Default No SACC-some hope or not?

I called Ridgefield Park's Board of Education and was told that they have no SACC.
I asked to the person about how working parents cope to the problem, but she said she doesn't know but maybe put their kids in daycare...unbelievable.

Then I called to Bergen County Board of Education. The person encouraged me to call Office for Children, and ask if RP has afterschool system attached to public school (like YMCA?)

Since Ridgefield Park looks good place to raise my daughter, giving up the idea to move in the place makes me sad. Anyway, this is my update. Please let me know if anybody knows about the situation regarding afterschool in R.P. Thanks.

I believe Cliffside Park and possibly North Bergen have after-school programs. NJ State offered a program called "NJ After 3". The program started in Bergen County I believe.

Jewish Family Service (of Bergen County), based in Teaneck, NJ developed the program. They were the provider, service delivery agency, etc. Call them at 201-837-9090 and they can give you details. Originally it was "their" program. After state budget cuts and everything else, programs got cut. I think Cliffside Park decided to continue the program on their own and they used Jewish Family Service as the vendor/provider. But JFS should be able to give you details about who offers what to some extent. Good luck.

Dear sperez and EANJ,

Thank you very much for your input!! There're so many resourceful person out there...no wonder a lots of people come this site.
As sperez said that Little Stars looks good. I also came up with link below and came to Little Stars. It looked promising so I'll check with them soon.
New Jersey Afterschool Directory - Find a Program

About Cliffside Pk, I was informed by Bergen Co person that they offer public pre-K and so on. They have very nice afterschool website, too. Thanks to EANJ.

I tend to search the existing service and use it without much thought, but now I feel very grateful to the person/group to build the system from the scratch.
