We will be traveling to Newark with 3 kids the night before an early morning flight and need to find a safe hotel with a long term parking option with security. There are many to choose from but I am getting hung up reading all the mixed reviews. Is Jersey City a safer location for the car? Is Staten Island safe? Most hotels offer shuttle service to the airport but I am nervous leaving my car for a week. Please advise...

Try the Hilton in Short Hills. I'm sure you could set up transport to the airport.

Stay at one of the airport hotels..if you're not confident about leaving car park in the long term parking at Newark or Vista which will shuttle you to airport..I've parked at both numerous times and car has been fine
